
Deputy Chief Shrivastava expressed happiness over the growth, expansion and diversification of the India-Nepal development partnership over the years. He made it clear that the Government of India is committed to further deepening and strengthening the partnership based on the priorities of the Government of Nepal and the Nepali people.
The Chairperson of Lomanthang Rural Municipality, political representatives, Chairperson of the School Management Committee and other stakeholders appreciated the support of the Government of India.
The Embassy stated that the program was attended by political representatives, government officials, social workers and teachers, students and parents. ‘Under the Nepal-India Development Cooperation, a hostel building and a dormitory house are being constructed at a project cost of Rs 37.6 million with financial assistance from the Government of India.
This project has been considered as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP). The school is the only higher secondary school in Upper Mustang. Children from Lo-Ghekar Damodarkunda Rural Municipality and Lomanthang Rural Municipality are studying in this school.
During his visit to Mustang, the Deputy Chief of Mission also visited the Lobo Nifug Namdrol Norbuling Monastic School in Lomanthang, the embassy said. The hostel building of this school is also being constructed as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICP) at a project cost of Rs 41.4 million by the Government of India.
Since 2003, the Government of India has been providing assistance to Nepal under 573 HICDPs in various sectors including education, health, roads and bridges, river training, drinking water, electrification, agriculture, culture and social welfare. These projects are spread across all seven provinces. Out of the 573 projects, 59 projects are in Gandaki Province, of which 17 are in Mustang.
