The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has formed a task force to study the issue of Foreign Study Permits (NOCs). Education Minister Raghuji Pant, taking a ministerial decision, formed the task force under the coordination of Krishna Prasad Kapri, Director General of the Education and Human Resource Development Center.

The task force has been given a mandate to study the issue of issuing NOCs. Education Minister Pant had said that NOCs should not be given to students as soon as they pass grade 12.

Speaking at the National Dialogue on Sustainability and Excellence of Community Campuses on Saturday, Minister Pant was of the opinion that NOCs should not be given as soon as they pass grade 12.

He had said that the government needed to think about this as they were young when they passed grade 12. He said that it was necessary for all political parties to come together and take a bold decision.

‘Honestly, what I have in mind is that there should be a national debate. My belief is getting stronger that students who have passed Plus Two should not be sent out of the country under any circumstances. He is not old enough, it is possible to say or not, some consultancies have sent him to Korea with 10-15 lakhs, saying that he will get a job worth this much lakhs, he had said, ‘Those universities will say they are not good. We tried to stop them, but we could not. In this situation, our higher education is good. If you look at the bank, it will be 100 billion, but if you look at the money they are taking illegally, it is 200 billion. It cannot be done, but the nation must take a bold decision unanimously.’
