A policy will be introduced to make the tenure of a teacher in a public school a maximum of five years and then transfer automatically.
It is mentioned that this policy will be implemented in the draft prepared for proper management of resources, quality improvement and effective supervision in school education.
Similarly, it is also mentioned in the draft that a policy will be introduced to ensure that the teacher cannot be transferred to another school without completing the 2-year working period in the school where he was first posted. “A system of transfer of teachers will be established only in the month of Baisakh,” said the draft. Private schools should provide free education to 10 percent of students
According to Suprabhat Bhandari, president of the Nepal Parents Association and member of the drafting sub-committee, the draft was recommended to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Monday through the vice president of the National Project. If this policy is passed, it will be mandatory.
