Nepal Government has set a Minimum Monthly Salary of Rs. 17,300

The government has fixed the wages of Nepali workers working in the internal labor market at 17,300 rupees, including allowances, except for tea plantations.

The government has increased the salary by 15.33 percent (2300 rupees) compared to the previous salary. The new wages will be effective from Shrawan of the current financial year.

The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has determined the minimum wage by publishing a notice in the gazette on Thursday.

According to the gazette, in the case of workers other than tea plantations, the monthly basic allowance is 10,820 and dearness allowance is 6,480, bringing the total to 17,300. Similarly, the daily basic wage is 428, dearness allowance is 250, and the total daily minimum wage is 668.

The minimum wage per hour is set at 89 per hour, with a basic wage of 56 and dearness allowance of 33. In the case of workers who work only part time, the minimum wage per hour is fixed at Rs 95.

Similarly, in the case of tea plantation workers, a monthly basic salary of 8,934 and dearness allowance of 4,959 have been set, totaling a minimum salary of 13,893.

In the case of daily, the basic salary is 323, the dearness allowance is 177, and the total minimum salary is 500. In the case of hourly basis, 43 basic wages, 23 expensive allowances and 66 have been set. The daily allowance of workers working in tea processing or tea factories, as well as Sardars, Nikes, and Chowkidars of tea plantations has been fixed at 63 rupees.
