Class 12th students are allowed to write answers in social studies and useful education exams in English medium as well.
The National Examination Board has decided that the medium of examination for that subject will be in Nepali or English. The students will get a lot of relief from this decision.
It was mandatory that the subject should be taught in Nepali language and the exam should also be given in Nepali language. Teachers and students protested a lot about this. Last year, in the exam, I had to write answers in Nepali medium.
Krishna Prasad Sharma, Controller of Examinations of the Board said that model question papers were prepared in English medium and placed on the website so that the students could understand the questions. They demanded to be allowed to take the exam in English medium as well. Their demands and wishes seemed appropriate. Therefore, I have decided to give the exam in either Nepali or English medium.
He clarified that the question paper will be asked in two languages in the social subject exam to be held on Baishak 29.
The National Curriculum has made it compulsory to teach social subjects in Nepali language. Even if the language medium is open in answer writing, the provision remains that the reading should be in Nepali.
