Public service Data Lost from Government Data Server, Preparing to Open Advertisement Again

After the online application documents filled by the examinees on the website of the Public Service Commission were lost from the government data server, the Commission is going to reopen the advertisement.

According to the Center, the data of about 60 government agencies has been lost from the data center.

The Public Service Commission takes applications online.

The applications registered on the Commission’s website were saved in the data center under the National Information Technology Center in Singha Darbar.

The Center was unable to recover the data as there was no backup of the data including the Public Service Commission.

New 18,000 applicants will have to fill the form again. The Commission is preparing to make a new application form again based on the fact that the data of payment of duty is kept safe in the Commission.

The spokesperson of Public Service Commission, Toynarayan Subedi, says that the data of applications called for in the months of Mansir, Push, Magh and fagun 2079 has been lost.

Even after two months of tireless efforts, the center has not been able to recover the data.

The Commission sent a letter on  baishak 12 that the data recovery efforts are continuing but it is not certain when and how much recovery will be done.

The technicians of the center started trying to recover in a week. However, even after two months, no data has been recovered, said Safal Shrestha, deputy director of the National Information Technology Center.

The National Information Technology Center has operated an integrated data center at Singha Durbar in Kathmandu and a disaster recovery center at Hetaunda. But when the server is down and sometimes the documents of the government website are lost, the service of the center is questioned.
