Tribhuvan University part-time professors have locked the offices of the Vice-Chancellor, Rector, Registrar and Service Commission. The part-time professors locked the offices after the Service Commission called for an advertisement for the appointment of professors through the fast track.

Chairman Gokul Limbu informed that the Central Struggle Committee of Part-time Professors put forward a 6-point demand and locked the offices. Tribhuvan University has demanded that the advertisement for the appointment of 130 professors on the basis of research excellence be canceled.

According to the committee, part-time professors have been continuously contributing by taking about 70 percent of the total class load of the university for twenty years. Around 2,200 of them are working in the constituent campuses and central departments of Tribhuvan University across the country.

The committee stated that part-time professors have been protesting at various times and stages against injustice, discrimination, inequality (in remuneration) and intellectual labor exploitation in academic places like the university.

An agreement was reached between the part-time professors and the university on 18th Shrawan 2081, and the Tribhuvan Executive Council on 23rd Shrawan 2081 decided to sign a contract for the vacant posts. However, the committee believes that the decision has not been implemented even after 11 months, which is an injustice to part-time professors.

The committee claims that there is a conspiracy to recruit 100 of their relatives and friends as associate professors in the name of TU rules and fast track, which is not in practice yet.

TU, on the other hand, has stated that it is going to appoint professors through fast track in accordance with global standards. For that, TU had made a procedure and invited applications.
