Department of Personal Records has officially launched the asset declaration process for fiscal year 2081/82. Public officials can now submit their declarations daily from 7 AM to 7 PM, including public holidays.
Director General Shravan Kumar Pokharel registered his own details on Friday, marking the formal start. He noted that the schedule has been made flexible to ease submission for all employees.
According to Nepali law, public officials must submit their asset details within 60 days of the fiscal year’s end. This year, enforcement has been tightened. Those who miss the deadline will face a Rs. 10,000 fine, double from last year, and may be subject to investigation.
Last year, 2,424 officials failed to submit, including 1,705 civil servants. This year, 81,318 civil servants are required to declare.
The department plans to publish the names of defaulters on the 61st day. More information is available on the Department of National Personnel Record’s website.
Pokharel expects a high response rate due to increased awareness, extended hours, and the inclusion of public holidays.
