Pokhara Multipurpose Campus has received the ‘Quality Assurance and Accreditation’ (QAA) certificate, which is considered a symbol of educational excellence. This campus, run under Tribhuvan University, formally received this recognition on 21st Jestha after successfully fulfilling various criteria set by the University Grants Commission.Campus Head Shishu Kala Parajuli has considered this achievement as an important turning point in the journey of education reform. ‘The QAA certificate has motivated our campus to be more transparent, accountable and capable,’ she said, ‘but it is not the final destination, it is the basis for continuous improvement and competitiveness.’ She said that this achievement of the campus is the result of collective efforts and visionary planning.
Established on 14th Mangsir, 2044 in the building of the National Secondary School in Tundikhel, Pokhara, the campus is now operating in its own premises in Shantivan, Pokhara-9. In the initial phase of establishment, the building of Mahendra Secondary School, Nayabazar was used. The contribution of Rs. 50 lakhs from the then Chairman of the Board of Directors, Narendraman Lalchan, was decisive for the construction of the campus building. Pokhara Metropolitan City provided the necessary land and the physical infrastructure of today was built with donations from private sector donors and public support.
According to Professor Mahendra Rimal, Coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Committee, there has been significant improvement in the campus’s infrastructure, administrative structure, academic excellence and financial transparency in recent years. He said that the campus has been able to successfully complete the QAA process as an evaluation of this process. At a press conference organized by the campus on Tuesday, he said, “After receiving the QAA certificate, the certificates of students studying here will be recognized by international universities, which is an indicator of the academic prestige of the campus.”
Currently, the campus is running programs in the Faculty of Humanities and Management at the undergraduate level. The campus, which has about 500 students, has plans to add programs like BBA, BIM, BIT in the coming days.
Campus Chief Parajuli said that there is a long-term plan to make the campus competitive at the national and international levels. Professor Rimal informed that the campus has been running various non-credit courses to enhance practical education and life skills. He said, “Along with academic activities, equal importance has been given to social responsibility.” The campus has been conducting district-level programs in areas such as environmental protection, gender equality, cyber security awareness, mental health, women’s empowerment, life skills, self-reliance, leadership development, and forest conservation.
