The General Account has pointed out that there are nearly 50,000 vacancies in the civil service.
According to the report published recently by the Office of the Accountant General, there are nearly 50,000 vacancies in the federal, state and local governments.
It is mentioned in the report that out of total 136 thousand 122 posts in all three levels of government, 85 thousand 656 posts are employed and 50 thousand 466 posts are vacant.
According to the General Accounts, there are 38 thousand 125 employees in the Union and 15 thousand 406 vacancies, while at the local level, 28 thousand 985 employees are employed and 36 thousand 284 positions are vacant. Similarly, it is mentioned in the report that there are 11 thousand 247 employees in the province and 6 thousand 75 posts are vacant.
Last year, the Accounts General concluded that 9 thousand 51 temporary posts were approved in 16 agencies and that this action was wrong.
According to the General Account, the Prime Minister and Cabinet Office has also increased the number of special category posts from 5 to 9 without justifying it.
The Accountant General has drawn the serious attention of the government to increase the quality of service delivery according to the workload while reviewing the posts.
Some officials of the Prime Minister’s and Cabinet Office have said that keeping the posts of 9 secretaries in the Prime Minister’s Office is wrong and erroneous.
